Dementia Friendly East Riding working in partnership
Dementia Friendly East Riding has recently become involved in two important local partnership arrangements and specifically for the benefit of people living with dementia, their families and carers.
Firstly, linking up with Healthwatch East Riding (HWERY) to enable greater access to all the local voluntary community services and provision available for dementia support and to promote jointly the various projects and activities we organise.
DFER trustee Simon Foster said “As a relatively new local charity we are keen to network with other agencies and voluntary groups. HWERY have an established pedigree working across all aspects of health and social care, monitoring standards and inequalities. This new development will encourage voluntary groups like ours to communicate their needs and ambitions and identify any gaps in provision. We shall also share information on our respective websites, social media and attend public events to raise our respective profiles”.
The second partnership initiative sees DFER as a new member of the recently revived East Riding of Yorkshire Council Dementia Awareness Group. This group will feed directly into the ERYC Health and Well Being Board and inform strategy, with the long – term aim of creating a dementia friendly East Riding.
